Composition:
Steel dumbbell/steel insert for Urethane dumbbells : Hot or cold rolled ASTM 1018 steel (heads). Handles are turned, ground and polished ASTM 1018 steel. Varying diameters as below.
Urethane dumbbell coating : High quality, durable (ShoreA-90), highly abrasion and impact resistant black polyurethane elastomer.
Production:
Steel dumbbells/steel inserts for Urethane dumbbells: Heads are bored, machined and chamfered. Handles are welded into heads.
Coating:
Steel dumbbells: Heads are conditioned, then finished with commercial grade, durable, chip-resistant coating. Iron Grip name and weight markings are engraved and painted.
Urethane dumbbells: Steel insert coated with adhesive bonding agent, heated and encased in polyurethane via a low-pressure injection molding process. Iron Grip name and weight markings are engraved, filled and cured.
Handles/Bars:All dumbbells handles and barbell bars feature Iron Grip's aircraft-quality, hard chrome plating. Our industrial hard chrome is manufactured to military specifications, is chip proof, and features a matte satin finish. Due to its superior durability and adherence to the steel, this finish is extremely durable and wear-resistant.

All dumbbells and fixed barbells are manufactured to industry-standard dimensions, and should fit all standard racks and trees. All dumbbell and barbell sizes have bored, chamfered heads. No "e;butt welding"e; is used, even on the smaller sizes. Urethane dumbbells covered by U.S. Patent #D409,266. Hex handles covered by U.S. Patent #D405,484.
