What are the advantages of a Stainless Bar vs. a Hard Chrome bar?
Stainless Steel provides superior corrosion resistance. In Salt spray testing (accelerated corrosion testing) a Hard Chrome Bar shows signs of rust in approximately 24 hours and a Stainless Bar goes beyond 120 hours. The big advantage is the Stainless Bar can be cosmetically touched up as needed if it rusts, where chrome cannot. You may also soften the knurl with sandpaper if desired. Hard Chrome is a non-corrosion resistant coating and NOT desirable in wet or humid environments.

I have been using a Mammoth power bar I purchased a year+ ago. I wanted another bar for super set. I could have got another Mammoth, but decided to try Elite this time. Both are of very high quality which I really value (very quiet). I like their secure, but not harsh, grip, but Mammoth and Elite do feel a little differently in my hand. Their secure grip may come from different reasons. Elite delivers direct contact of hand and the bar shaft, while Mammoth's cerakote has more friction than metal. Both are beautiful bars.

Stainless is amazing and the knurling is out of this world. It looks like the knurling is really mild, but even without chalk it is incredibly "sticky". Just buy it already! I used to love really aggressive knurling, but this is a game changer for me.

American Barbell - Elite Power Bar
This power bar is appropriately named as the Elite Power Bar (EPB). Over a period spanning more than two decades, I've had the opportunity to use a multitude of power bars and I can say with certainty that American Barbell's EPB is by far one of the finest bars that I've used and owned. Not only does this barbell look gorgeous in stainless steel but it performs very well on the squat, bench and deadlift. Some observations I've made while using this bar in training: There is no noticeable whip out of the hole while squatting. The bar remains predictable and very rigid throughout heavy lifts such as benching and deadlifting. Moreover, getting back to the EPBs construction and finish: Fine craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail is apparent throughout the construction and finish of this barbell. Take for instance, the sleeves fit very tightly to the bar shaft so there is no excessive play which also contributes to the predictability of the bar. Also, have a look at the beautifully recessed welds on the barbell collars and see for yourself just how well the knurling is finished. In regards to knurling: The raw or uncoated bar offers knurling that is finished to a fine texture which provides a very positive grip yet it doesn't feel coarse or have pointed peaks in the knurling like other bars. Everyone that's used the "other power bars" knows what I'm referring to when the other bars either tear into your grip which may rip off calluses or when they cause deep abrasions of the shins when the bar comes into contact with the skin. American Barbell's pride in their work and quality of craftsmanship put into these power bars are in a league of there own considering the affordability, construction and finish of the product. So, If you're looking for an awesome performing power bar than look no further you have found what you are looking for. Nate

My first stainless steel bar, and I wasn't sure if it would be worth the hassle and expense of shipping it to Europe. Now I am. Wonderful knurling, seemingly mild yet somehow magically sticky, and very even. There's a subtle asymmetry to it, so you can flip the bar 180 for a slightly rougher texture depending on your grip's needs. I haven't tested it to extremes yet, but rotation and whip seem just fine so far for powerlifting. Packaging was very secure, but nothing a pair of pliers couldn't dismantle. Honourable mention to Shipito for helping get it to the UK.

I ordered this barbell for our staff fitness center. I had never used a barbell with a stainless steel finish before. The finish and knurling are top notch and our staff love it. Great job American Barbell! Cpl. T. Hall

Stainless Elite power bar
First off my gym has ******, cheap, non commercial, bent, no name/rogue ohio bars that all are messed up in some way. I received the bar within 5 business days shipping from cali to ohio. This power Bar came in a very heavy duty cardboard tube and was packaged so well it was a task to get it out of the packaging. I was glad though as bar came out flawless and zero damage. Now onto the bar itself, let me tell you this thing is solid with very little whip. I usually go up to 495lbs for triples on deadlifts using a Rogue Ohio bar...the difference between these bars is immense. First off the quality of this GPI/American barbell power bar Blows away any bar Rogue makes!! I was used to the rouge bar bending like crazy off the floor, this power bar has barely any whip! And also the rings on the bar are spot on for bodybuilding/powerlifting which I prefer. The rougue bars rings are far too wide for bench press!! I Used this power bar on chest day and set a pr! Cant wait to squat with this bar! GPI/AB rocks!!!

After using the bar for three months, I can tell that it's a great bar. Knurling is not very coarse but grippy enough. Finish looks great and sustainable. Packaging was very good and it took a while to unpack. My advice is cut the package tube instead of trying to remove staples on the end cap.
