BH Fitness LK700FB Commercial Fan Bike - The LK700FB from BH Fitness is a commercial quality upright exercise bike that uses wind resistance and upper and lower body engagement for optimum results during high intensity interval training. High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) is a cardiovascular exercise method defined by alternating short periods of high intensity exercise with less intense periods of active recovery. When using an air bike, the more intensely the user pushes and pulls the upper body handles while pedaling with the lower body, the more air is drawn through the fan blades, thus creating more wind resistance and increasing the difficulty and workload of the exercise on the whole body. During short bursts of intense exercise on a fan bike (anywhere from merely a few seconds up to around two minutes), the exercise becomes anaerobic due to substantially increasing oxygen deficit. Essentially, the body's demand for oxygen exceeds the oxygen supply available during such high intensity intervals. The body's use of fast twitch muscle fibers during anaerobic exercise promotes strength, speed, and power, and muscle mass, all key physical components for the modern elite athlete.

The LK700FB has two unique features which enhance workout experience and maintain bike longevity as compared to other wind resistance training bikes available today. First, the LK700FB features an adjustable air flow to the user through a wind damper that is controlled by a dial. With the wind damper all the way open, the user will feel the full blow of air which allows natural cooling and drying of sweaty skin and clothes, and heightened perception of workload intensity. With the wind damper openings minimized or even closed, the user will not feel the same flow of air, which can literally heat up the workout and by extension the bodys temperature for increased sweating during exercise. Some exercisers find the flow of air to the face to be an annoyance or distraction, in which case they can completely close the vents on the wind damper.

Second, the LK700FB covers the frame and inner drive mechanism of the bike with enclosed shrouds. A natural byproduct of high intensity exercise is sweat, which falls downward during exercise and can cause rust on metal frames, cranks, gears, and chains.
