Adjustable Weighted Vest -- Body-Solid (BSTWV)
Body-Solid Tools BSTWV Adjustable Weighted Vest 20 lbs or 40 lbs The BSTWV20 and BSTWV40 from Body-Solid are adjustable weighted training vests used to provide additional resistance over the exercisers own body weight during cross-training and athletic training for sports performance. Conditioning your body into working out with what it thinks is a heavier overall body mass than it is accustomed to will lead to increased strength, stamina, speed, lung capacity, power, and explosiveness. Muscles are taxed more and the heart needs to pump harder to support the extra weight during exercise. By tricking the body into working harder during periods of pre-season conditioning or general training, when the main event arrives and the vest is no longer worn, the muscular, cardiopulmonary, and respiratory systems all function at an enhanced level given that the body is no longer encumbered by additional poundage. A weight vest lets you add resistance to a high intensity interval training routine without compromising biomechanics since it hugs the upper body and allows the arms and torso to move and rotate freely during exercise. Weight training vests can be used in the gym when performing squats, lunges, dips, pull-ups, push-ups, burpees, and hand walks. A weighted workout vest is great for adding weighted resistance to your walking or running program for accelerated weight loss whether outdoors or at home on a treadmill or elliptical.
Both the BSTWV20 and BSTWV40 vests are adjustable allowing you to increase or decrease the amount of resistance utilizing 2 pound weight blocks that fit snugly inside pockets located on the front and back of the vest. In the case of the BSTWV40 vest, at maximum weight the exerciser will carry 20 pounds on the front and 20 pounds on the back with all 20 pockets filled. In the case of the BSTWV20 vest, at maximum weight the exerciser can insert the 10 included blocks into half of the 20 useable pockets high or low on the front or back depending on preference for weight balance. Each vest features fully adjustable velcro straps which allows customizing the fit to your body and torso and proper placement of the weights, resulting in optimal center of gravity without restricting any type of range of motion. For beginners, the ability to adjust the weight of the training vest beginning at 2 pounds and working up to maximum load of 20 or 40 pounds means that you can gradually build strength and conditioning levels and not overexert if you are not physically ready to carry the extra weight (as would be the case with a fixed weight vest). The Body-Solid weighted core training vest also includes a steel d-ring on the front and back of the vest allowing attachment to cable gym machines or sports performance resistance bands for functional training exercises.

Weighted Vest Squat Begin by standing with feet slightly more than shoulder-width apart, wearing a weighted vest. Bend at the knees, squatting low, until the legs form a 90-degree angle with the floor. Avoid hinging at the hips and letting the chest face the ground. For added intensity, step the legs wider apart, still squatting deeply, to target the inner and outer thighs.
Weighted Vest Push Ups Assume push-up position wearing a weighted vest. Hands should be shoulder-width apart and either toes or knees should be on the ground. Complete a push-up, keeping a straight line in the spine and the core tight to support the added weight of the vest.
Weighted Vest Burpees Begin by standing with feet shoulder-width apart, wearing a weighted vest. Bend over and place hands on the floor in front in front of you, just outside of the feet. Jump both feet back and come into plank position, with the arms fully extended. Then, drop to a push-up until the chest is nearly touching the floor. Push back up to the plank position and jump the feet back in toward the hands. Then, explosively jump into the air, reaching the arms straight overhead. Repeat.
Weighted Vest Hand Walks Begin by standing with feet shoulder-width apart, wearing a weighted vest. Reach hands to the floor with the knees slightly bent, placing the right hand on the ground then the left hand slightly in front of it. Walk hands out in front of the body in this fashion until in an extended plank position. Then, walk feet towards hands until the body forms an upside-down V. Begin the walk hands forward again to restart the move.
