The Assault Air Bike is the culmination of over two years of painstaking efforts by the LifeCORE Fitness development team of engineers, Crossfitters and fitness enthusiasts. Whats the best airbike for crossfit training? There are quite a few airbikes available nowadays, but this is the BEST airbike you will find. Modeled after the classic Schwinn Airdyne design, the Assault Air Bike has injected some new technologies, such as ball bearings on every pivot point, resulting in a fine piece of machinery designed to perform under even the most brutal interval style training. The Assault Air Bike has quickly gained acceptance in some of the toughest CrossFit facilities and has become their new standard of bike due to the rugged durability and unparalleled performance. Want to find out more about why the Assault Air Bike is the new standard for crossfit and cross-training? Read the article "Assault Air Bike is the Ultimate Cross-Training Tool!".
Key Design Elements:
The All-New Assault AirBike - Fan bikes have been around for decades. The wind resistance bike concept is great, but no one had sought to improve upon this design. Our team set out to create the highest quality, most durable air bike on the market... Let us introduce the Beast, The Assault Air Bike.
Workout Without Limits - No two athletes are the same which is why the Assault offers individualized and infinite adjustments for an unlimited workout. Keep it mellow and level to target a heart rate range, or jump into a high-intensity interval session that reduces you to a quivering heap of sweat.
Programmed to Push - The Assault console is either a friend who gently motivates, or a drill sergeant who kicks your butt. Match your mood to your workout with one of the seven on-board programs. Choose a challenging Tabata interval session, set a calorie, distance or time target, or build your aerobic base with a heart rate program. More choices means more motivation.
Built to Punish, Built to Take Punishment - We set out to design a machine that can take what it dishes out. Thick-gauge chromoly steel, sealed cartridge bearings and oversized pivots ensure the Assault holds up hundreds of thousands of maintenance-free hours of use on the military base, on campus, in the gym, physical therapy or at home. Built for the commercial environment and will prove to hold up to the most demanding abuse.
Built-In Durability, A 20-Bearing Salute - When we set out to design the Assault AirBike, we knew that integration of sealed cartridge bearings in every pivot and moving part was an absolute necessity and were more than a little shocked when the count totaled twenty. That's a bearing or two in every pivot, be it pedals, bottom bracket, flywheels or linkage arms. Twenty sealed-bearings in all... tucked and hidden neatly away under machined and formed steel. You can say that its the things that you cant see that make the biggest difference.
The Computer, Watts Up - We started from scratch with the design of the Assaults console. LCD technology offers a versatile array of display images. Large buttons and quick keys to offer faster access to the on-board programs, while the screen is packed full of useful data feedback. Simultaneously monitor heart rate, speed, RPM, time, Watts and calories... All this functionality in a sleek, compact heads-up display. Since Watts were important to our development team, we knew we had to get this right... and we did. Our first task was to connect the Assaults drive train to 20 horsepower electric motor, enabling us to deliver a constant RPM. We then coupled a calibrated torque measurement meter to the drive train and recorded output at each RPM increment from 5 to 150 RPMs. With a simple math conversion, the Assault was armed with actual Watt output values. The result... what you see is accurate.

The dreaded ass bike, so good, yet it sucks
Review byCyndi N
We have the assault bike in our gym, and I decided to get one for home for accessory work. I hate this bike, and yet I now have one for the house. The more I use it and deal with the awfulness of it, the better I get. It is great for building cardio capacity. It was packaged securely, the instructions were easy to follow and assembly was a breeze. Quality product!! We put this bike to the test at the gym and it takes a beating!! Highly recommend this bike!!

Believe the Hype!
Review byD.A. Elliott
Don't get me wrong, it's not that my expectations were low; it's just that I wasn't quite sure what to expect. I watched videos and I read numerous reviews, but it was hard to get a sense of whether the fear of buyer's remorse was talking (after all, it is an expensive purchase) or whether the reviews were from people associated with the company (unfortunately, you have to be wary of that these days). Let me tell you that this bike lives up to the hype!
First, the delivery was exceptional and the packaging was very user-friendly. I didn't even look in the instruction manual for assembly instructions and am 90% certain that I could have assembled it myself with no help, but I did use Assault Fitness' helpful YouTube assembly video to make sure I did everything correctly. Instructional videos are a nice touch and sooo much better than those instruction manuals back in the day that used the obscure diagrams. Some of you will know what I mean.
Using the bike, yes, the console is simple, and I'm sure Assault has heard a million people comment on it, but I actually prefer brutalism and simplicity, and this is where the bike excels. It offers no pretensions about what it is: a cardio death machine that will assault whatever preconceived level of fitness you feebly believed you possessed. What I love about the simple LCD screen is that it is clear, functional, and requires very little power (the bike does not require a plug or a hundred batteries). The information is well-presented, and the simplistic nature of the screen means that electronic failure will be rare. There are no burned out pixels to worry about, OS reboots, firmware upgrades, frozen screens, etc. It's a brilliant choice in an age blinded by "newer is necessarily better" mentality.
What surprised me most about the bike, however, is that my wife absolutely loves it! Part of the reason we purchased the bike, besides rehab / prehab, warmups, HIIT, and LISS, is that we both started running more frequently back in January and both started suffering from shin splints (hindsight note to future runners: strengthen that anterior tibialis and you'll save yourself from the trouble). Neither of us wanted to "rest" since we were proud of our progress, and so we started to look into bikes and cycles as an alternative until the shins healed up. (They're fine now; thanks for asking!). After looking at recumbent bikes, spin cycles, and air bikes, and after reading dozens of reviews and watching videos, I zeroed in on the Assault Bike. Purchasing an expensive product for oneself is difficult enough, but when that decision involves someone else as well, you have to be really careful. My fear was that the bike would be too "difficult" for her, as most of the videos I watched showed people that had typical Adonis bodies and were in the prime of their youth (we're early 30s). To my surprise, she not only loves it, but she excels at it!!! She's used the bike everyday since we've owned it, often burning 100 or more calories. She loves the features on the console that allow her to program calories, intervals, or time. To be honest, and I'm embarrassed to admit this, her endurance on the bike is far better than mine. So for anyone else worried about something similar, give the bike a shot anyway because you'll be surprised at its versatility and the enjoyable user experience.
For reference, I'm 5'7 and she's 5'1. Neither of us find the bike uncomfortable to use. The seat can feel a little firm after 10 or 15 minutes, but we purchased the Diamond Back Memory Foam seats, which helps with that issue. My only issue with the memory foam seat is that it is a more slippery surface that causes you to slide forward on the seat, even when you want to sit back more at times. This isn't a review for that though.

Quality machine
Review byJames Kuna
The Assault Air Bike is a well built utensil designed to take whatever you can throw at it. Our gym members love to hate the days when it makes it in to programming. Our firebreathers have thrown everything they can at it and have always been humbled in the process. The only criticism I have found is that the foot pegs can become loose after some use. A few drops of blue loctite solved this problem. Happy to have these in our arsenal. .

best airbike made!
Review byChris
Since the first time I jumped on an assault air bike in a competition, I knew it was the best airbike made. Quality structure, built to last, and crushes your soul in a workout. I own a Crossfit affiliate and we do the "pain train" which is a 1 minute max calorie bike. I'm more afraid of the pain train than doing Fran.

push it!
Review byjustin
When it comes to the Assault bike, you get out what you put in. The harder you push, the more evil this thing becomes. There are not too many things that break me off the way this bike does. One of my favorite things to do if I don't have a lot of time is a tabata bike(20 seconds max effort, followed by 20 seconds of rest for eight rounds). It's great to add to any wod, and is low impact on the joints so you can train harder longer. If you are serious about getting in good shape, then you need this bike. I am also a trainer at a gym, and the clients love/ hate these bikes for the way it leaves them feeling afterwards.

We grew up in the 70's with the Schwin Airdyne and really helped our workouts, but moved away from it for other activities. The Assault is a great piece of equipment, smoother than the air dyne and with seat adjustments it becomes very personalized.... Great finish and look forward to many years of cardio work.... Thanks very much for making it available

Great, evil product...the Air Assault Bike. just added three more to the gym and everyone is mad because they'll have less of an excuse to not use one as more are available now.
I only wish my three prior ones purchased a few months ago had the same front base. Far, far better design. So much easier to move the new bikes around the gym.

I love the Assault Bike! I've been wanting one for a long time and I am so happy I finally bought one for our home gym. Set up is super easy-- I did it by myself and in about 45 min (I watched the video the whole time and it was super helpful!). It's a very durable machine with easy maintenance. And it's amazing for building your aerobic capacity in a low-impact way! I highly suggest this machine for any gym!

Great Bike !
Review byTerry
Ordered the Air Bike and it only took two days to get to my house! After a few minutes of getting the bike off the pallet, out of the box, I started putting it together. It was packaged very well, no issues. It took about 30-40 minutes to put the bike together. The tools they sent with the product were ok but I went out to the garage and got my real tools to make sure everything was tight. The bike performs as described. Being in our 50s, my wife and I wanted something besides a treadmill, and this does the job. I like how the seat adjusts up/down/front/back .The only complaint so far is trying to register the bike. The link to do this states cant find the page, and by the time I get off work the 800 number is a recording. Oh well I will keep trying. Overall 5 stars. Well built, gym quality and built to last!

Highway to hell
Review bysteve
First off this bike is built like a tank. I spend a few hours searching online and then in the big box stores. Nothing comes close to the quality of this machine. Everything out there is flimsy plastic. I'd much rather spend the extra cash on quality which looks like it is built to last.
Pros: well built and sturdy construction. Time of assembly only took 20 mins. The bike is made to hurt you but only in a good way. I found the seat comfortable and don't think I'll need to get a wider seat. Customer care was fantastic and the ordering and delivery process was super easy.
Cons: I think the optional pieces wheel guard and drinks holder should come as standard. For the price this should be the rolls Royce of air bikes... If I had a place to grab a bottle it would encourage me to stay on the bike for longer.
Last piece of advice: just get it.

Complete annihilation without the impact
Review byTim
I've only had the bike for a short time, but love it so far. I had an Airdyne Evolution Comp for about two years, and was always fixing it. The Assault is much smoother and seems a little more quiet. I love the programming options and extra seat adjustment. I have a history of knee injury, and the bike is a great way to redline without high-impact movements. One negative aspect of x-fit is long term sustainability. It's my experience that most of my x-fit friends struggle with various injuries that come with it. The bike is great for maintaining peak cardio fitness long term. I'll be going in for my 3rd ACL reconstruction in a couple of days, and I have been using it to get my in the best shape possible, and I'll be using it to get back into shape as soon as the swelling goes down after surgery. The only improvement I would like to see, would be a larger display panel. It can be a little hard to see calories etc...especially when you're about to black out ;).

Awesome! It's amazing something from the 70s (fan bike) can cause this much pain! I own CrossFit Above The Bar and I have been lucky enough to test multiple products and demand the best. Buy once....cry once, buy twice... cry twice. Don't try to short cut and buy some knock off, the AB is legit and will not disappoint! The C2 Rower was my go to piece of equipment, however those days have passed. These things are awesome! I can't wait to have about 15 of theses!!!!

Review byStephen Newberry
My crossfit gym purchased 3 Assault Bikes last fall and I really enjoyed using them to warm-up and during conditioning intervals. I purchased my own for my home gym and I love using Assault Bikes even more now. Each morning before work when I get up I will do some type of conditioning work. I alternate one day on the Assault Bike and the next on my rower. I love being able to mix things up. My favorite workout is 30 minutes of 30 secs on / 30 secs off. I really think this addition to my home gym is going to take my training to a whole new level.

intense and effective workout
Review bySteve Wainwright
I've logged about 80 miles on the bike so far, enough time for the novelty to have worn off. I mostly do intervals, 30 seconds hard/30 seconds easy for 30 minutes or so. Somehow, the bike encourages you to push yourself more than I have experienced using an elliptical or a stair machine. I'd rate the intensity level second only to a cross-country ski machine, based on 50 years of working out for sports and general fitness.
The bike is as sturdy as everyone says, and is simple to assemble.
The only downsides are minor: Whirring fan noise is considerable when you're pushing it hard. And for me, the "wind" in my face was excessive, so I rigged up a homemade "fender" to deflect it.
Other than that, I'm more than satisfied with the quality of the bike and the effectiveness of the workouts.
