Detecto 2391 Metric Mechanical Physician Scale
The Detecto 2391 is an eye-level mechanical physician scale designed specifically for metric weight and height measurement. This model has a 200 kg capacity with 100 g graduations and includes a dual-reading height rod measuring from 60 to 212 cm. It operates without batteries or electrical power, making it a practical weighing station for physician offices, clinics, wellness rooms, and other professionally managed environments.
Metric-Only Weight Measurement
Unlike pound-only and dual-unit models in Detecto’s broader eye-level scale family, the 2391 displays weight in kilograms. The die-cast mechanical weigh beam can be read from either side, allowing the operator to view the measurement without moving around the scale.
To obtain a reading, the operator moves the large and small poises until the beam balances. Because the weighing system is mechanical, the scale does not require an outlet, batteries, software, or electronic configuration.
Included Height Rod
The Detecto 2391 includes an eye-level height rod for measuring standing height in centimeters and inches. Its measurement range is 60 to 212 cm, or 24 to 84 inches, with graduations of 0.1 cm and 0.125 inch.
The height rod allows weight and standing height to be recorded at one station. Model 2391 does not include transport wheels or a handpost; those features are available on other models in Detecto’s physician-scale family.
Stable Steel Platform and Eye-Level Beam
The scale uses mild-steel construction with a powder-coated finish. Its platform measures approximately 14.75 by 10.75 inches, or 37.5 by 27.3 cm, and includes a removable black platform cover for routine cleaning.
The upright eye-level configuration places the weigh beam within convenient viewing range for the operator. The complete scale measures approximately 58.25 inches high and 17.5 inches wide.

Planning for Placement and Use
Place the scale on a firm, level surface with enough room for the user to step onto and off the platform. Keep the beam, poises and height rod accessible to the operator, and follow Detecto’s assembly, zero-balance, calibration, cleaning, and inspection instructions.
Before placing the scale into service, verify that the beam returns to zero when the platform is unloaded. Measurement procedures, documentation requirements, and suitability for a particular healthcare or institutional workflow should be established by the facility.
