Flat Multi-Grip Bar for Pressing and Rowing

The IRON COMPANY FMG Flat Multi-Grip Swiss Bar gives lifters multiple hand positions in a flat specialty-bar frame for upper-body strength training. The different grip locations provide alternatives to a conventional straight bar for movements such as bench presses and bent-over rows while keeping the bar's overall geometry straightforward for rack-based training.

The FMG weighs 40 lbs. and measures 82.25 inches from end to end. Its steel construction is finished in black powder coat, with 32 mm diameter grips designed to provide substantial hand contact during pressing and pulling movements.

Multiple Grip Positions

The defining feature of the FMG is its multi-grip center section. Each grip measures 7 inches long, with 2.5 inches of space between adjacent grips. These dimensions give the lifter several hand-placement choices without requiring a separate specialty bar for every upper-body movement.

Grip position changes exercise setup and should be selected according to the movement, rack configuration, and individual training needs.

Important: 48 mm Sleeves Require Axle Collars

The FMG uses 48 mm diameter sleeves and requires compatible axle collars. Do not assume that standard Olympic barbell collars will clamp securely to these sleeves.

Compatible collars are sold separately. Buyers who need collars for the FMG can add Lock-Jaw Pro 2 Axle Collars to their setup.

Confirm both plate and collar compatibility before loading the bar. Collar fit is especially important because the FMG sleeve diameter differs from the sleeve dimensions buyers may be accustomed to on conventional Olympic barbells.

Bar Length, Sleeves, and Rack Planning

The FMG measures 82.25 inches overall with 53 inches from sleeve to sleeve and 14.5 inches of loadable length on each sleeve. Buyers planning to use the bar in a power rack, half rack, squat stand, or bench station should compare the bar dimensions with the exact support spacing and rack geometry before ordering.

Do not determine rack compatibility from overall bar length alone. The relationship between the center frame, sleeve position and rack supports determines whether the bar fits a particular setup as intended.

40 lb. Steel Multi-Grip Bar

The FMG uses steel construction with a black powder-coat finish and weighs 40 lbs. unloaded. Its flat frame provides a different setup from cambered Swiss bars, making the FMG worth comparing with other multi-grip designs based on the exercises and bar path you prefer.

Care and Storage

Store the FMG indoors in a dry location and keep it protected from outdoor exposure. Avoid dropping a loaded bar directly onto rack pins, safety supports, or benches. Impact between the bar and hard equipment surfaces can damage or bend the bar and may fall outside manufacturer warranty coverage.

Compare Other Multi-Grip and Specialty Bars

Buyers comparing different specialty-bar geometries may also consider the American Barbell Swiss Multi-Grip Bar or the Body-Solid Olympic Multi-Grip Curl Bar. For a broader selection, browse Olympic Weightlifting Bars and Specialty Bars.
