Some find the bar hard to balance or re-rack when a set is completed or dont feel completely comfortable performing this exercise without a spotter standing by. The unilateral movement that the 6003 provides is beneficial in many ways. Each arm moves independently, a lot like performing dumbbell chest presses, and will quickly identify any weaknesses or imbalances the user may have so that they can be corrected. Unlike using a barbell to perform bench presses, unilateral handles can be used to perform alternating chest presses for added training variety. Converging movement is yet another benefit of performing the unilateral bench press. At the bottom of the movement the hands begin at a width comfortable to the user and similar to the width used if benching with a bar. As the movement is executed, the angle of the handles bring the hands closer together, again similar to dumbbells, and allow the pec muscles to fully contract at the top of the press. No need for a spotter on this chest press! The 6003 is equipped with spring loaded lever stops that, by way of six different pop-pin height settings, pre-determine the resting point of the handles before and after the exercise.
