Turf Claw Foam Back Adhesive - 5-Gallon | Patriot Artificial Turf (IC-TCFB-5) - Turf Claw FB is a high solids adhesive for installing artificial turf with a foam backing. Turf Claw artificial turf adhesive was developed to withstand outdoor environments, as well as demanding indoor application. It is a solvent-free, low odor adhesive designed for the permanent installation of rubber backed and urethane backed artificial grass/turf carpet, outdoor unitary latex and marine back carpets, carpet with synthetic secondary backings, cork underlayment and flooring. Turf Claw Foam Back adhesive is also recommended for indoor installations of most commercial carpets except for those with vinyl backings. Turf Claw FB is made with an advanced antimicrobial system to protect the adhesive from bacterial and fungal growth. It is CRITM Green Label Plus approved for indoor air quality.

Before You Begin Installation

Important: Proper substrate preparations are essential. Moisture testing must be performed and documented before installation begins. Read Technical Bulletin titled Substrate Preparation for complete instructions before beginning installation.

Usage: Do not use over treated lumber or plywood or over substrates that have been chemically cleaned.

Outdoor Installations: Do not use on outdoor installations if rain is expected within 24 hours after the installation, or if the substrate temperature is below 60° F. For outdoor temperatures above 95° F, shading may be required to lower the site and substrate temperature. Higher ambient temperatures will shorten open time. All substrates must be sound, dry and clean.

Indoor Installations: Indoor installation procedures for preparing and testing concrete substrates must comply with the flooring manufacturer’s requirements, as well as appropriate CRI 104 guidelines. With permanent HVAC in operation, the floor and room temperature, as well as the flooring materials and adhesive, must be maintained at 65°–85° F and the humidity between 45%- 65% for 48 hours prior to, during, and after the testing and installation. Follow floor-covering manufacturer’s installation instructions and proper adhesive application rate. For indoor installations of carpet with permeable backing only.

Traffic: Follow the flooring manufacturer’s installation guidelines; otherwise restrict foot traffic for 24 hours after installation. No heavy traffic, rolling loads, or furniture placement for 72 hours after installation. Additional time may be necessary if the installation is over a non-porous substrate. Allow at least five days following the installation before conducting wet cleaning procedures or initial maintenance.

Open Time: No open time required for porous substrates; 10–20 minutes for non-porous substrates, depending on site conditions. Open time will vary with changes in temperature and humidity. Lay carpet into adhesive that is still wet enough to ensure 100% transfer to the carpet backing, and roll with a 75–100 lbs. roller or hand roller. When installing over a nonporous surface, let adhesive become tacky. For cork installations, let adhesive become tacky, dry to the touch before placing tiles.

Clean Up: Use a clean wet cloth to clean up adhesive while still wet. Dried adhesive may require the use of an appropriate solvent.

Substrate conditions: Use on interior concrete substrates with up to 90% RH (per current ASTM F2170), and pH of 8.0–9.0. When used outdoors, no visible moisture should be present.

Limitations: Do not allow product to freeze. Do not use on substrates that have been chemically cleaned or over treated plywood. Not recommended for carpet with vinyl backing.
