Body Solid GSS50B Sissy Squat - Core Trainer - Abdominal Bench – The GSS50B Sissy Squat by Body-Solid is a full commercial rated sissy squat station providing an effective platform for bodyweight squats as well as a complete core training workout in a compact footprint. The GSS50 has an open frame design, also known as a "U-frame" or "Y-frame", which expands functionality of the bench to lower body, upper body, abdominals, and core. The GSS50 can be used by itself or in conjunction with dumbbells, a kettlebell, or a medicine ball for increased training intensity. The GSS50 also provides two anchors on the lower base frame to secure strength bands or resistance tubing. With its heavy duty 12-gauge steel construction, the GSS50B Sissy Squat boasts a 300 pound user weight capacity. The GSS50B is designed for commercial gyms, high school and university weight rooms, sports performance centers, cross-training facilities, and any other high-use application.
How is the GSS50B Sissy Squat Station different from a traditional sissy squat bench? – A sissy squat machine is a great piece of equipment to work your quadriceps and glutes using your own body weight or by holding a weight plate, kettlebell, or dumbbell to add resistance. However, functionality of most sissy squat benches is limited to the squat exercise only. A traditional sissy squat stand has a supporting main frame piece which extends directly behind the exerciser, preventing contact by the user with the ground surface below. This is also known as an "I-frame" or "T-frame". The GSS50B Sissy Squat by comparison has a wide "U"-shaped support frame, thus opening the training zone to allow the exerciser to lay down on the ground to perform isolated abdominal crunches, sit-ups, and even full sit-up to stand-up repetitions. The GSS50B will also allow dumbbell work (such as dumbbell floor presses and dumbbell flat flyes) with legs secured on the rollers and upper body in a prone horizontal position on the floor.
