5/16" Thick Natural Black Rolled Rubber For Gyms - 8mm Our 8mm rubber gym flooring rolls offer our customers two ways to save. First it is important to know the definition of Natural black and how it translates into cost savings. A natural black rubber roll is produced from the same recycled crumb rubber as our black rolls and gym mats. During the process in which the car and truck tires are shredded, cleaned of metal and all other tire debris and finally pulverized into crumb rubber, the colored rubber that makes up the white wall of the tire is usually separated, as well. Removing the white wall is one more step in the manufacturing process that involves added cost to the manufacturer. Natural rubber has not had this white wall material removed thus making this material a little bit cheaper to produce. The cost savings is then passed to our customer.
Another way our customers save by purchasing an 8mm thick gym flooring compared to 3/8" is the savings on actual material. Since 8mm is just a little bit thinner than 3/8", you get about the same performance with the added savings from buying less material. Over the past few years, especially when the recession was in full swing, many club owners changed from 3/8" to 8mm rolls so that the money they saved could be invested into other equipment.
What are the benefits of purchasing "Natural" rubber compared to all black rubber? We've talked about the cost savings through cheaper production costs and slightly thinner rubber, but there is one other big benefit to buying recycled rolled rubber that contains these small colored flecks. Camouflage! When you lay down a jet black floor you'll soon begin to see dirt and dust. Colored flecks in natural rubber will actually help hide this debris so that your flooring area has the appearance of being cleaner much longer than all black. This requires less vacuuming and cleaning.
